French President Emmanuel Macron says the rift between Qatar and its Gulf neighbours should not be allowed to escalate. On his first visit to North Africa since taking office, Macron called for dialogue, during his state visit to Morocco. Macron and Morocco’s King Mohammed VI also discussed Libya’s instability. Several Arab countries severed diplomatic, trade and transport ties earlier this month with the Arabian Peninsula country, accusing Doha of backing terrorism, which Qatar denies.
