ISIL fights to establishstronghold in Pakistan

Pakistani intelligence agencies have released names of 87 people wanted on charges of terrorism.

More than half of them are thought to be members of ISIL.

A 2014 government report warned of ISIL actively recruiting and organising thousands of fighters in Pakistan’s tribal areas.

Since then, armed fighters who pledged allegiance to ISIL have carried out at least eight major attacks that have killed and injured hundreds of people.

Despite a spate of attacks, the army and the government have been relatively quiet about the scale of ISIL’s presence and influence in Pakistan.

Al Jazeera’s Zein Basravi reports.
