Special Assignment: Brazen Impunity, 22 May 2017

June 26, 2017 12:50 pm

In this episode of Special Assignment, we expose the magnitude of state medicine theft, which costs taxpayers billions of rand annually. Our investigation uncovers an organized crime syndicate that targets ports of entry, government depots, hospitals including truck hijacking. The raid on the surgery of Dr A.M Ahmad, in Actonville, Benoni on Gauteng’s East Rand, in February this year, following a Special Assignment Investigation, led the Hawks to recover more than 2 million rand worth of stolen medicine. The medication which included a large amount of ARVs, antibiotics and diabetic medication, was destined for state hospitals.
