Egyptian authorities are investigating a blast that took place late on Thursday near Cairo International Airport. The explosion occured in a fuel storage area at a chemical plant. At least 12 people have been injured in the blast and resulting fire. The blaze has since been brought under control. The Egyptian Army says the explosion was caused by high temperatures, but did not provide any further details. Flights in and out of the airport were initially halted, but have since resumed. The faciity where the blast took place is controlled by the army.
